Our Story
Founded in 2001 by master furniture maker Mark Mabe, March Legend was born out of a lifelong love for the craft and a deep respect for the timeless beauty of heirloom-quality furniture. What began as a small workshop in the heart of rural Danbury, North Carolina, has grown into a nationally recognized furniture company known for handcrafted farmhouse and cottage-style pieces that are built to last for generations.
In 2008, tragedy struck when a fire destroyed the original workshop. But like the sturdy, enduring pieces we build, March Legend rose from the ashes—stronger, more committed, and more inspired than ever to keep handcrafting legacy furniture with purpose and passion.
At March Legend, every piece is made by hand on our working farm, using time-honored joinery, solid hardwoods like northern cherry, red oak, ash, poplar, and antique maple, and a relentless dedication to quality. We believe that furniture shouldn’t just fill a space—it should tell a story, reflect a soul, and stand the test of time.
Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Long before it was trendy, we began using non-toxic, earth-conscious finishes—made from cashew nuts, hemp oil, and whey proteins (a byproduct of cheesemaking)—to ensure our work honors the environment just as it honors tradition. These finishes are hand-rubbed onto every surface, inside and out, with care and intention.
Our signature style leans into period-inspired silhouettes, from hand-turned table legs to gently distressed surfaces. We don’t aim for factory precision—we aim for art. No two legs are ever exactly the same, and we love it that way. It’s how you know a human touched it.
Mark often says, “Other companies may offer similar farm tables, but there’s no way they’re better made.” Our mission has always been to offer heirloom furniture at an honest price, and we stand behind that with every piece we build.

Our journey starts long before the first cut is made. We carefully select American hardwoods—many locally harvested or reclaimed and aged right here on our North Carolina farm. Some boards have waited years for the right project, resting in the quiet until they’re ready to be shaped into something lasting.
This isn’t fast furniture. It’s slow, intentional work rooted in respect for nature’s timeline. A tree can take 75 to 125 years to mature. We believe the furniture made from it should be built to last just as long.
Using time-honored joinery—mortise and tenon, tongue and groove, shiplap, and housed joints—we craft each piece with integrity and soul. These aren’t just construction techniques—they’re part of a legacy.
